National Night Out coming next week

The Fayetteville Police Department will host events for “National Night Out” Tuesday, Aug. 2.

From 6 to 8 p.m. police officers and firemen will be at the Fayetteville Police Department located at 760 Jimmie Mayfield Blvd. to talk to citizens about safety issues and provide fingerprinting and identification kits for kids. Police cars, special police vehicles and fire trucks also will be on display.

National Night Out (NNO) is a unique crime and drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch.

NNO is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are aware. The Fayetteville Police Department is encouraging all citizens to stop by support this national event.
