Research proves the healing power of laughterResearch suggests that a sound sense of humor may prevent health problems from occurring. Countless studies show that a good case of the giggles bolsters pain tolerance by escalating the release of endorphins: the bodys feel good hormones. And laughter simultaneously suppresses production of the stress hormones cortisol and adrenalin. Best of all one side effect of laughter is a sense of well-being and contentment. And that is important to Dr. Marilyn Durden, who believes in addressing the underlying causes of disease and illness, not merely masking symptoms. We are all exposed to stresses: physical, emotional and chemical. Gone unchecked, stress wrecks havoc on the body. For example, stress is linked with dysfunctional areas of the spine called vertebral subluxation. This condition is the enemy of wellness and is associated with numerous disorders, ranging form headaches and vertigo, to pain, numbness and tingling of the extremities. Dr. Durden corrects vertebral subluxations at the base of the skull using an up to date, high technology procedure called Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic Technique. She also teaches patients how to prevent the various forms of stress that may foster spinal problems. Laughter is just one of many prevention-oriented approaches embraced by chiropractic lifestyle. The public is invited to attend two Health Talks presenting research-based information on this interesting topic. They are scheduled for Thursday, Aug 11, at 10 a.m. at Heritage Peachtree Retirement Community and Tuesday, Aug 16, at 6 p.m. at the Durden Chiropractic Clinic. Call 770-631-7600 to reserve a seat. | ||
