Bad Links? | Construction logjam predicted for I-85 againTwo lanes closed in both directions for weekend work Area residents heading to Atlanta this weekend should find an alternate path for the work zone on I-85, which will stretch from Ga. Highway 74 to Ga. Highway 138 this weekend, according to the Department of Transportation. Two lanes will be closed both northbound and southbound, but extreme congestion is expected, DOT officials said. Crews began work at 9 p.m. Friday and continue until 6 a.m. Monday. The work is necessary to replace sections of pavement on the interstate. Instead of using the south end of I-85, residents of Tyrone, Peachtree City and Senoia can continue north on Hwy. 74 to U.S. 29, which goes through Fairburn and eventually connects with South Fulton Parkway then I-85.
