Bad Links? | AFJROTC cadets complete SLSThe Sandy Creek High Air Force Junior ROTC program completed its first Summer Leadership School last month. The SLS focused on teamwork and principles of leadership. Cadets were challenged with physical training in the morning to include a fitness test and team sporting events. Each day cadets were also tasked to work as a team and solve tough leadership problems during the leadership lab. Academics included a Medal of Honor presentation, examination of leadership and followship principles, review of cadet staff functions and discussions on cadet goals for the upcoming school year. Cadets were also given uniform inspections and evaluated on drill performance. During the week, invited guest speakers discussed military and civilian careers, opportunities in the military services and the need for each cadet to actively pursue their goals. Several of the cadets were also given an additional responsibility as a Cadet Training Instructor. The Cadet Training Instructors helped organize the SLS and conducted all of the training sessions. The graduation ceremony recognized each cadet with a certificate and SLS ribbon, singled out 16 of the cadets who received the fitness ribbon and honored A Flight as the SLSs top flight. The week was concluded with a field trip to the Center for Disease Control and the Naval Air Station in Marietta. |
