Religion BriefsWaddy on tour in ThailandHugh Waddy, organist at National Heights Baptist Church in Fayetteville, is presently on a three-week tour in Thailand as accompanist for the Korean Choir of New York. Also with the group is soloist Yumi Boulanger, a frequent soloist at National Heights. Mens group meets at Christ the KingThe men of Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church meet regularly at the congregations parish house at 4881 Ga. Hwy. 34 in Sharpsburg. Less than three years old, the group meets for breakfast and prayers, and features guest speakers at the meetings. Amish trip still has openingsThere are still a few openings for the senior adults week-long trip to the Amish country in September, sponsored by National Heights Baptist Church. The Amish Experience costs $600 per person, double occupancy, or $790 per person, single occupancy, and includes transportation, lodging, food and four shows. The dates are Sept. 19-24. First Praise to perform at JFBFirst Praise, an ensemble from Jonesboro First Baptist Church, will present a mini-concert during the 6 p.m. service Sunday, July 17. Providence to host DivorceCare in AugustDivorceCare, a free, 15-week, nondenominational study which features Biblical teachings for those recovering from divorce and separation, will begin Tuesday, Aug. 16, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in room F-14 at Providence United Methodist Church. Persons who are separated, going through a divorce or recently divorced are encouraged to attend. Sessions are conducted through use of a workbook, video and discussion and are open to both members and non-members. Free child care is available with a reservation. Cokes Chapel seniors plan two tripsSenior adults at Cokes Chapel United Methodist Church have planned two church-sponsored trips for July and August. On Thursday, July 28, the group will travel to Perry to tour the Lane Peach Packing Company and have lunch afterward at the Peaches Cafe. The group will leave the church at 8 a.m. On Aug. 18, the group will travel to Atlanta for a visit to Fernbank. Sign up sheets for both outings are available in the church narthex. Or, contact Brenda Hagen, 770-253-6941. Blow your own horn with local orchestraLocal amateur musicians are invited to join Jonesboro First Baptist Churchs Blow Your Own Horn church-wide orchestra. The groups performance is scheduled for Sunday evening, July 24, with rehearsals on July 23 and 24. The music will be appropriate for all levels of musicianship and for all ages of musicians from school-age up. A rehearsal and breakfast will be held Saturday, July 23, from 9 a.m. until noon in the churchs worship center.
