Bad Links? | Author to speak in FayettevilleDr. Ken Hemphill, national strategist for the Empowering Kingdom Growth initiative of the Southern Baptist Convention, will speak at New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville during the July 10 morning worship services. Dr. Hemphill is co-author of a new book by Broadman & Holman Publishers titled Parenting with Kingdom Purpose, which takes a fresh approach to raising children. As he acknowledges early on, there are hundreds of books available today on the subject of parenting. However, Parenting with Kingdom Purpose is unique in that it details how to parent ones children with the kingdom of God in mind. The book focuses on fulfilling Gods plans for each childs life and on bringing families closer to each other and to God. We are losing our young people at an alarming rate, Dr. Hemphill said. Thats why it was vitally important to write a book that not only explains the importance of parenting children with a kingdom purpose, but that also provides practical suggestions for how to develop and maintain a kingdom focus throughout life. Last fall, Dr. Hemphill introduced a new Empowering Kingdom Growth resource he developed called A 40-Day Experience: EKG, The Heartbeat of God. He noted the study complements Parenting with Kingdom Purpose in that it creates the desire for mothers and fathers to be kingdom parents. Using biblical principles coupled with research conclusions from the groundbreaking National Study of Youth and Religion, Dr. Hemphill and his co-author Dr. Richard Ross (who also co-founded the internationally successful True Love Waits campaign) desire to help Christian parents to shape their children into agents for Gods kingdom. |
