Bad Links? | Bid for PTC library furniture approved70 percent of furniture to be refurbishedBy JOHN MUNFORD When the Peachtree City Library reopens after its renovation, it will have some new furniture thanks to approval of a $204,817 bid from DeKalb Office. The library is refurbishing 70 percent of its existing furniture for cost savings, and the refurbishment is included in the bid, noted Randy Gaddo, the citys director of leisure services. All of the librarys existing shelving will be reused, he added during his presentation Thursday night to the Peachtree City Council. The Council unanimously approved the bid award to DeKalb Office 4-0, with Councilman Steve Rapson absent. Gaddo said the process of selecting the furniture the library needed was excruciating in its detail, as some furniture pieces were shipped in and used in the librarys temporary location during a testing phase. He credited Angela Egan and Jill Prouty for working through the exhaustive process to get the right furniture selected. The city has already approved much smaller bids from several other furniture vendors who will be providing furniture for the library. Those vendors were CWC, for $34,369, GSI for $21,279 and Georgia Institutional for $4,785. |
