Bad Links? | Eagle Scouts namedTroop 79, Tyrone, held a Triple Eagle Court of Honor May 14 at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone. Michael White, 18, the son of Jim and Clara White, earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Michael is a recent graduate of Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone. In the course of scouting Michael earned 28 merit badges, BSA Lifeguard, Mile Swim, attended Junior Leadership Training Conference, was on Junior Leadership Training Conference staff, was on Camp Thunder staff, and was a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow. For his Eagle project, Michael chose to build a 20-by-20-foot arbor in the courtyard adjacent to the science hallway at Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone to create a structure for growing plants which would attract birds and bugs for study, and to provide an outdoor classroom area for the science department. Russell Gray, 18, the son of Tim and Kathy Gray, earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Russell is a recent graduate of Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone. In the course of scouting Russell earned 28 merit badges, attended Junior Leadership Training Conference, was on Junior Leadership Training Conference staff, and was an Ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow. For his Eagle project, Russell chose to build a practice backboard for the tennis court at Shamrock Park in Tyrone. As a beneficial addition to the facility, the backboard is available for local residents to use for individual practice. Kenneth Haynes, 18, the son of Karl and Faye Haynes, earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Kenny is a recent graduate of Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone. In the course of scouting Kenny earned 32 merit badges, attended Junior Leadership Training Conference, was on Junior Leadership Training Conference staff, and was an Ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow. For his Eagle project, Kenny chose to establish a 35-foot flagpole and provide the necessary landscaping at the new Handley Field ballpark in Tyrone. The flagpole was erected before the start of the 2004 baseball season, and will be used to display the United States flag during games and ceremonies. |
