Bad Links? | Let Freedom Ring set for MondayLet Freedom Ring is a nationwide celebration honoring those who helped achieve our country's independence during the American Revolution. Let Freedom Ring was established to "revive the spirit of patriotism" and to provide a "dignified ceremony which will have imortant meaning for millions of Americans who love their country and have faith in its future." This year, the General Daniel Newnan Daughters of the American Revolution is inviting the public to participate in the celebration July 4 at 2 p.m. Although the celebration is initiated in Philadelphia, it is a nationwide event. In accordance with U. S. Congressional Resolution Number 25, bells across the country are rung 13 times at exactly 2 p.m. (EDT) in honor of the 13 originial states. Everyone is invited to join in ringing a bell for freedom as did the patriots of 1776. Anyone desiring more information about Let Freedom Ring can visit www.let-freedom-ring.org. Anyone participating is entitled to a certificate of participation. The General Daniel Newnan Chapter serves Meriwether, Coweta and Fayeete Counties. The NSDAR welcomes any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution.
