Demarcus Marquis Clemons, 20, of Trammel Bottom Road, Hogansville, leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance, following too closely and the violation of instructional driver's permit. Charlene R. Peters, 35, of Stovall Street, Sharpsburg, DUI, suspended vehicle registration, expired tag and failure to maintain lane. Tyrone Police Dept. Sean Demetries Goss, 26, of Cambridge Fair, Fairburn, driving with an expired tag, no insurance, driving with a suspended license. Ronald Winton Burdette, 29, of Cedargrove Road, Fairburn, was charged with DUI following a traffic stop about 2:31 a.m. June 17 on Ga. Highway 74 South and Jenkins Road. A Tyrone police officer encountered Burdette's vehicle parked on the shoulder of the road facing northbound with its emergency flashers on. The officer pulled behind him and activated his emergency lights. As he walked up to the driver's side, the officer allegedly smelled an alcoholic beverage wafting from the vehicle, which was still running. The officer awoke the driver and asked for his driver's license. The officer noted the smell of alcohol on the driver's breath. The officer alleged Burdette was unsteady on his feet and seemed confused. Burdette allegedly told police he was on his way from Peachtree City where he had two beers with his girlfriend. The officer asked Burdette if he would perform a series of voluntary field sobriety evaluations, but he declined. Burdette was placed into custody and read the implied consent law. He was taken to the Tyrone Police Department where he refused to testing again and taken to the Fayette County Jail. Bryan Stewart Dyer, 18, of Rhae Street, Palmetto, was charged with theft by taking following an incident on June 17. Police were called to break up a rowdy scene where three people and the alleged victim were preparing to fight with tools over a stolen cell phone. Donna Gentry, 27, of Senoia Road, reported her cell phone was missing. The store clerk called her number and the phone rang in Dyer's vehicle. Police asked Dyer why he had Gentry's phone. He said he picked it up off the store counter. Dyer was arrested for theft by taking. Other incidentsFayetteville Police Dept. Vandalism: Patricia Lee, 44, of Jan Trammell Real Estate, reported June 13 that someone spray painted the word "suicide" in gray paint on the side of the brick duplex at 90 Meadowbrook Court. The vandalism, which occurred between June 11-12, resulted in $500 in damage. Lee reported someone also damaged the gutter down spouts at 100 Commerce Drive by pulling them up and removing them between June 6-10, resulting in $500 in damage. Vandalism: Willie Darden, 43, of Hill Street, reported someone threw rocks through a storage building window and windows on a gray Hyundai Excel at 125 Hill St. A damage estimate was not given. Burglary: A string of burglaries were reported at Banks Crossing Shopping Plaza on Hwy. 85 about 4:15 a.m. June 25. Someone broke into El Ranchero, 214 Banks Crossing, and stole $2,300 worth of merchandise. Someone also broke into GNC vitamin store, 210 Banks Crossing and Genie Nails, 202 Banks Crossing. Tyrone Police Dept. Burglary: Three men smashed the front glass window at Dolly's Shell, 1012 Senoia Road, and tried to steal from the building. The robbers entered the building and headed for the rear stock room. One thief armed with a sledge hammer knocked gas pumps off the wall. The other two attempted to remove the automatic teller machine, but were unable to. The robbers tripped the security alarm. A damage estimate or the items stolen was not provided. The thieves fled west on Palmetto Road in a reddish Chevy S-10 Blazer. A resident from Pendleton subdivision witnessed the thieves in action. Fayette Co. Fire and Emergency Services Lighting strike: A man was transported to the hospital after he was struck by lightning at his home on 190 Old Mill Court. Lightning strike: At 5:10 p.m. June 21, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services responded to a lightning strike at 110 Reynolds. Trash fire: At 5:42 a.m. June 23, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services responded to a trash fire at 209 Brooks Drive. Road freight or transport vehicle fire: At 6:38 a.m. June 23, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services responded to a road freight fire at Hwy. 85 and Hwy. 74. Overpressure rupture, explosion or overheating situation: At 10:42 a.m. June 23, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services responded to 150 Shamrock Industrial Boulevard due to an overpressure rupture, explosion or overheating problem. Power lines down: At 8:01 a.m. June 24, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services responded to Starr's Mill HIgh School, 193 Panther Path after downed power lines were reported. Gas leak: At 4 p.m. June 24, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services responded to a gas leak at 200 Keaton Drive. Unauthorized burning: At 4:37 p.m. June 24, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services responded to an unauthorized burning call at 675 Kenwood Drive. Outdoor burning is prohibited from May 1 to Sept. 30. A $500 fine could be imposed on violators. Cooking fire: At 8:15 p.m. June 25, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services responded to a cooking fire at 968 314 Highway. Electrical wiring: At 8:36 p.m. June 26, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services responded to an electrical wiring or equipment problem at 100 Jordan Place. Hazardous material release: At 11:15 p.m. June 26, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services responded to 345 Chase Drive after a report of hazardous material released into the air was reported. From June 21-27: the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services received 107 calls for help. Fayetteville Fire Dept. Arcing problem: At 3:22 p.m. June 21, Fayetteville firefighters responded to arcing or shorted electrical equipment at 205 Highview Trace. Fayette County fire crews assisted with the call. Electrical wiring or equipment problem: At 10:55 a.m. June 23, Fayetteville firefighters responded to an electrical wiring or equipment problem at 320 Hunters Glen. Gas leak: At 4:01 p.m. June 24, Fayetteville firefighters responded to a gas leak at 200 Keaton Drive. Hazardous material release: At 12:19 p.m. June 25, Fayetteville firefighters responded to 215 Sunderland Circle after hazardous material being released into the air was reported. Arcing or shorted electrical equipment: At 4:44 p.m. June 25, Fayetteville firefighters responded to arcing or shorted electrical equipment at 125 Hood Ave. Cooking fire: At 8:15 p.m. June 25, Fayetteville firefighters responded to a cooking fire at 968 314 Hwy. Hazardous material release: At 11:15 p.m. June 26, Fayetteville firefighters responded to 345 Chase Drive after hazardous material being released into the air was reported. From June 20-26: the Fayetteville fire department received 43 calls for help. Peachtree City Fire and Rescue Gas leak: At 9:42 p.m. on June 20, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to an inside gas leak at 155 Rockspray Ridge. It was caused by broken gas line to the stove. Gas was turned off and the house was ventilated. The structure was left with Atlanta Gas and the occupant. Stove fire: At 6:18 p.m. June 20, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a cooking fire at 2023 Peachtree Station Circle. Firefighters arrived to find the occupants had a stove fire. Firefighters checked residence for extension of the fire. Residence was turned over to the occupant. Accident: At 2:55 a.m. June 22, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a vehicle accident at 221 Morgans Turn. Firefighters and EMS personnel checked for injuries. One patient was transported by Peachtree City Fire/Rescue ambulance to local hospital. Structure fire (Commercial): At 8:09 p.m. June 23, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a structure fire at 1000 Stevens Entry. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from a backyard cookout. All fire units not on scene were cancelled and put back in service. Structure fire: At 4:09 p.m. June 26, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a reported structure fire at 102 Green Blade Point. Units were cancelled by residence. They reported the stove fire was out. One fire engine continued to address to assist homeowner. From June 20-26: Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to 41 calls for help. |
