Bad Links? | Community donor helps Huddleston purchase AEDOne by one, generous donors from the community have been coming forward to help Fayettes schools purchase needed Automated External Defibrillators (AED). The latest donor is school board member Marion Key, who made a donation to Huddleston Elementary to help make the school a heart healthy facility. Keys donation, along with PTO funds, will be used to purchase the defibrillator. We are grateful to be able to offer this important service to our Huddleston community and appreciate the generous contributions of Mrs. Key and our PTO, said Huddleston principal Becky Maddox. Every year almost 350,000 people suffer cardiac arrest and only about five percent of them survive. Cardiac arrest is a condition in which abnormal heart rhythms cause the hearts electrical impulses to suddenly become chaotic. Defibrillation, which delivers an electric shock to the heart, is the only known treatment to stop this chaotic electrical activity. For every minute defibrillation is delayed, the victims chances of survival go down by 7 to 10 percent. |
