Bad Links? | Fairburn man dies in Sunday motorcycle crashBy LEE WILLIAMS Officials say alcohol might have caused a motorcycle crash in Tyrone that killed a Fairburn man Sunday, pushing 2005’s traffic-related death toll in unincorporated Fayette County to four. Bycent Adrian Dye, 23, the driver of a 2003 Yamaha V-Star, was traveling north on Kirkley Road just south of Bohannon Road about 1 a.m. when he crossed the centerline in a curve and ran off of the left side of the road into a ditch, officials said. “He flipped off the bike and impacted a tree,” Fayette County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Enforcement Director Lt. Col. Wayne Hannah said. Hannah said Dye was wearing a helmet and he was traveling alone at the time of the accident. Mr. Dye sustained severe injuries and was transported by Rescue Air One to Atlanta Medical Center where he later died. No other injuries were reported. The scent of an alcoholic beverage wafted from Dye’s clothing, leading investigators to believe alcohol was involved, Hannah indicated. But, officials are waiting for lab results from the Georgia Bureau of Investigations crime lab to determine if Dye was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. “It will take several weeks to get the test results back from the State Crime Lab,” Hannah said. Funeral arrangements for Dye are being handled by Mowell Funeral Home in Peachtree City. Details of the arrangements were not immediately available as officials were waiting to finalize details with the Dye family as of 2 p.m. Monday, a representative said. |
