Bad Links? | Hawks hosting NBA draft partyWith the opportunity to select their highest draft position in 30 years, the Atlanta Hawks will host a 2005 NBA Draft party at Philips Arena next Tuesday, June 28. Fans of all ages are welcome to spend an evening of fun and entertainment, while enjoying exclusive party "extras," available for only those in attendance. Doors open at 6:45 pm. Admission is free and open to the general public. NBA All-Rookie Second Team selection and Sprite Rising Stars Slam Dunk champion Josh Smith and Hawks guard Royal Ivey will be available for free autographs and photos beginning at approximately 7 p.m. Hawks alumni, including Dan Roundfield, Jim Washington and Charlie Criss, are also slated to be in attendance. Fans will be able to watch and listen to all of the action from the 2005 NBA Draft live on dozens of TV's in the Philips Experience (located above Hawk Walk in Philips Arena), while also getting exclusive live updates from inside the Hawks Draft Central room. Other festivities include Q&A sessions with team ownership and executives, a special Kids Zone, games, contests, and prizes, as well as appearances by Harry the Hawk, SkyHawk and Dance Team. Additionally, Sportstalk 790 The Zone (WQXI) will be broadcasting live throughout the evening. Currently, the Hawks own the second overall selection in the first round, in addition to a pair of second round picks (31st and 59th overall). The second choice represents the Hawks highest draft position since 1975. The 2005 NBA Draft will be broadcast live on ESPN from The Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
