Bad Links? | Cleanup begun at Kroger site By JOHN THOMPSON Its still going to be a while before Senoia residents can go Krogering. City Administrator Richard Ferry said this week that the cleanup process is beginning at the site at the intersection of Ga. highways 85 and 16. The site used to be a gas station, and officials discovered that gasoline was leaking from the underground storage tanks. The cleanup could take 18-24 months, but Ferry said Kroger would be able to develop the portion of the property that does not contain the tanks. Earlier this year, Senoia officials finally gave their blessing to building the new shopping complex that would contain a Kroger grocery store,a long with several outparcels. In preliminary talks, officials also indicated that a Kroger fuel station would be included at the center. But the approval for the center came with strings attached as the council asked that any site plan Kroger submitted to the DOT for the shopping center only show in a right in, right out access across from the Chestlehurst subdivision. |
