What do you think of this story? Bad Links? | Benefit show is this weekend
A very special benefit show is coming up this Saturday at a very special venue. The Ole Clinton Opry House in Gray, Ga. is pulling out all the stops to help a Fayetteville resident in need. Sarah Jo Youngs story was featured in the April issue of Fayette Woman magazine. She finally received her heart transplant, but still is fighting enormous medical bills. Diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, the former school bus driver and mother of four is fighting the good fight. Thankfully, she is surrounded by loving friends and family. Close friend Donna Lynne Jones has enlisted the services of her talented husband. Howard Jones III, or Bud to his friends, and is rounding up his fellow musicians collectively known as Smith and Jones and the Sho-Nuff Country Band to play some classic country music and raise money to help Sarah Jo with her ongoing struggle. Jones and company will be joined by the Evangel Trio who specialize in gospel and western classics and by JD & GA Bluegrass. Bud Jones is the operations manager for Fitness Resource. Before he settled down with his wife Donna, Bud was a professional musician for over 25 years. Jones has played with members of Lynyrd Skynyrd and David Allen Coe to name a couple famous acts. Buds lifelong friend, Charlie Smith, a chart records recording artist himself, helps to head up the group. They are joined by Ernest Jump on fiddle and Barney Miller on steel guitar. Paul Moncrief, the owner of the Ole Clinton Opry House has generously offered his venue for the benefit which is located about two miles south of the heart of Gray off Ga. Highway 129. The Opry House has been showcasing gospel and country music for local fans since October of 2003. The Ole Clinton Opry house seats about 250 and offers a clean environment for the whole family where Gospel and Country music can be enjoyed by all. Buds wife, Donna, will be in charge of barbeque and food that will be sold, and all proceeds will go to Sara Jo Young. There is no cost to go but there will be several donations boxes where people can make donations to Sara Jo. The music starts at 7 p.m. This benefit is an act of love that is being taken on by many, many people from all around the South.
