Bad Links? | Chambliss nominates Fayette students for service academiesU.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., announced that seven of his Fayette County nominees have accepted the offer to attend the United States Service Academies beginning July 1. While the academies make the final appointments, Chambliss' nomination was key, because all applicants to United States Service Academies must be nominated by their senator, congressman, the Vice President, or the President of the United States. It is an honor to announce these students acceptance to the US Service Academies, Chambliss said. Fayette County should be proud. These are all very bright young people who have all demonstrated academic achievement in high school, leadership potential, physical fitness, and personal motivation. The Chambliss nominees include: Jeb Beard of Peachtree City, son of Chip and Suzanne Beard, graduate of McIntosh High, United States Air Force Academy. Craig Hyatt of Fayetteville, son of Robert and Paula Hyatt, graduate of Starrs Mill High, United States Air Force Academy. Tyler Olmstead of Peachtree City, son of Bruce and Susan Olmstead, graduate of Starrs Mill High, United States Air Force Academy. Andrew Gilzean of Peachtree City, son of Mark and Barbara Gilzean, graduate of Starrs Mill High, United States Air Force Academy. Jeremy Cunningham of Fayetteville, son of Bryan and Maureen Cunningham, graduate of Fayette County High, United States Merchant Marine Academy. Josh Fox of Peachtree City, son of George and Alicia Fox, graduate of McIntosh High, United States Merchant Marine Academy. Erik Knapp of Peachtree City, son of Bruce and Susan Knapp, graduate of McIntosh High, United States Merchant Marine Academy.
