Special Olympics volunteersLeslie Downs and Holly Vandiver, real estate agents with Parks & Mottola Realtors, recently volunteered at the 2005 Annual Coweta County Special Olympics Games. The day-long event was held at Newnan High Schools Drake Stadium. Downs assisted in Developmental Games and Awards. Developmental games focused on hand/eye coordination among other skills. An assisted race and wheelchair race were also part of those games. It was a lot of fun, Downs stated. The children are very sweet. Downs helped organize players, assisted them during the games and, really just acted as a cheerleader, cheering them on and supporting them. Vandiver helped with the foot races and wheelchair races, working as the official timer at the finish line, reporting times to the judges. I really enjoyed it, Vandiver said of her experience. Ive always wanted to help and when the opportunity came around, I signed up. Ill do it again next year. Both Downs and Vandiver are members of the Newnan Coweta Board of Realtors. Downs also serves as vice president of membership for the Coweta Chapter of the Womens Council of Realtors. Vandiver is also a real estate appraiser, registered with the state of Georgia.
