Fire and Emergency Services Smoke scare: At 7:38 p.m. June 6, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel responded to a smoke scare at 145 Chase Drive. Oil spill: At 6:49 a.m. June 7, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel responded to an oil spill at Sandy Creek and Highway 74. Cooking fire: At 1:56 p.m. June 10, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel responded to a cooking fire at 194 Highway 85 Connector. Unauthorized burning: At 8:36 p.m. June 10, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel responded to 1899 N. 85 Highway after a call about unauthorized burning was reported. Outdoor burning is prohibited from May 1 to Sept. 30. A $500 fine could be imposed on violators. Biological hazard investigation: At 6:44 p.m. June 13, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel responded to 150 Rivers Road to conduct a biological hazard investigation. The report was unfounded. From June 6-14: the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services received 159 calls for help. Fayetteville Fire Dept. Smoke scare: At 7:38 p.m. June 6, Fayetteville firefighters responded to a smoke scare at 145 Chase Court. Gas spill: At 8:06 p.m. June 9, Fayetteville firefighters responded to a gas spill at 185 McIntosh Place Drive. Gas spill: At 7:04 a.m. June 10, Fayetteville firefighters responded to a gas spill at 95 S. Jeff Davis Drive. Accident: At 2:04 p.m. June 10, Fayetteville firefighters responded to an accident at Lanier and Tiger Trail. Firefighters assisted EMS crews with extracting a victim from the wreckage. The crew also provided first aid and checked for injuries. Power lines down: At 6:28 p.m. June 11, Fayetteville firefighters responded to White Oak and White Oak Court after downed power lines were reported in the area. The department assisted Fayette County fire units as part of the joint automatic and mutual aid agreements. From June 6-12: the Fayetteville Fire Department received 59 calls for help. Peachtree City Fire and Rescue Cooking fire: At 9:47 a.m. June 6, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a reported structure fire at 242 Terrane Ridge. The fire was caused by burning food in the stove. Firefighters helped ventilate the house for smoke. Lightning strike: At 5:01 p.m. June 6, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a lightning strike at 1114 Montclair. The firefighters checked the home and found it appeared the lightning had hit outside and traveled up a wire to the house. No fire resulted. The occupant was told to contact an electrician to check the electrical circuits. Lightning strike: At 5:11 p.m. June 6, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a lightning strike at 619 Grecken Green. The firefighters discovered lightning had hit outside the house, but followed a line into house. No fire resulted. The occupant was told to contact an electrician to check the electrical circuits. Flooding: At 6:07 p.m. June 6, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a reported flooding at Peachtree Parkway South and Crosstown in the Three Pond Area. Firefighters arrived to find that a juvenile had tried to drive golf cart on flooded golf cart pathways and had been swept away. Bystanders prior to EMS personnel arrival had rescued the youth. Juvenile was checked and released back to parents. The golf cart was swept downstream and retrieved at a later date. Gas leak: At 7:05 p.m. June 6, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a reported outside gas leak at 316 Evian Way. A strong odor of natural gas was detected and the ground was bubbling near the street indicating a gas line leak. Nearby residences were evacuated and Atlanta Gas Light was contacted. Once Atlanta Gas shut off the gas, the natural gas levels were checked and occupants were permitted to return to their homes. Cooking fire: At 6:49 p.m. June 7, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a cooking fire at 12303 Merrick Drive. The fire was caused by burning food in the stove. Firefighters helped ventilate the apartment for smoke. The occupant was treated for smoke inhalation. The apartment was handed back to occupant. Brush fire: At 8:26 p.m. June 8, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a brush fire at 305 Wynmeade. Personnel and equipment arrived to find an illegal controlled burn. Resident was advised about the burning ban and required to quickly extinguish the fire. Outdoor burning is prohibited from May 1 to Sept. 30. A $500 fine could be imposed on violators. Brush fire: At 3:49 a.m. June 9, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a reported brush fire and stop sign burning at Robinson and Holly Grove roads. Personnel and equipment arrived to find small brush fire that was quickly extinguished. Brush fire: At 4:21 a.m. June 9, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a reported brush fire at Braelinn Road and Pleasance Grove. Personnel and equipment arrived to find small brush fire that was quickly extinguished. Accident: At 8:23 a.m. June 9, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a vehicle accident at 200 Kedron Drive. One patient was transported by Peachtree City Fire/Rescue ambulance to a local hospital. Structure fire: At 6:13 p.m. June 9, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a reported structure fire at 521 Peachtree Station Circle. Firefighters arrived to find smoke showing from under the apartment door. Forcible entry was used to gain access to the apartment. The apartment was full of dark heavy smoke. Food had been left on the stove and had been burning for some time. The smoke alarms were working and sounding off. During the search of the apartment firefighters found three people asleep in one of the bedrooms. They were unaware of the fire and had not been awaken by the fire alarm. The burning food was extinguished. Fire crews helped resident ventilate the home. Apartment management was contacted. The apartment was turned over to the occupant and told to contact management before they used the stove again. Vehicle fire: At 6:02 p.m. June 10, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a reported vehicle fire at 603 Tower Road. Firefighters arrived to find the fire had been extinguished. From June 6-12: Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to 51 calls for help. |
