Bad Links? | Comings and goings By F.C. FOODIE As the summer season starts to pick up steam, there are a number of restaurants that have opened or are getting ready to open in the county. One of the better choices for good sandwiches has just opened on the south side of Peachtree City. The Chicago Eatery at the Publix shopping center on Ga. Highway 74 is the perfect place to head for those who want their hot dogs or Italian sausage sandwiches with a little attitude. The menu points out that the owners refuse to put ketchup on the dogs, but does provide the condiment for those who insist on it. The dogs are plump and juicy, and served on a poppy seed roll. I really like the Italian sausage sandwich. It tastes just like those I had in my youth at my mothers Italian family reunions. The sausage is spicy, and has that distinctive pop when you bite into it. The fries are pure potato, and served hot and fresh. Another option for dining in Peachtree City is Big Daddys Oyster Bar. The restaurant is located behind Chick-fil-A in the Peachtree Crossings shopping center. The pub features a variety of oyster preparations from raw to Oysters Rockefeller. I loved my grouper sandwich and like the setting. Its very casual and laid back and perfect for those lazy summer afternoons. Back in Fayetteville, Mike and Cs Family Sports Grill has opened its second restaurant in the county. The highly-succesful restaurant in Peachtree City, near Chicago eatery, for everything related to Starrs Mill High School. Im partial to their breakfasts. These folks did a great breakfast business when they operated Shadows and it seems their clientele has followed them to the southside of Peachtree City. Their hash-browns are wonderful, and they always provide quick and friendly service. The new retaurant is located in the Publix shopping center on south Ga. Highway 85 in Fayetteville. On a sadder note, the Buckhead Brewery has closed all its locations, including the one in Peachtree City on Ga. Highway 54. The restaurant had decent food, but was apparently not generating the expected profits, said one published report. Im sure it wont be long, though, before another restaurant moves into the space. | |
