Bad Links? | One step closerGolf course could be Whitewater Country Club again very soon By MICHAEL BOYLAN There appears to be enough interest in members reclaiming the Palmer Course at Starrs Mill and making it a privately owned club. Over 70 people attended a meeting on Tuesday night to find interested members and 68 people signed up giving the organizers over 200 members, enough, according to David Harris, to move forward with the plans to take over the loan and take over the club. If all goes well, the club will return to its former name, the Whitewater Country Club. Harris and other members and residents of Whitewater Creek have long wanted to have the club be a privately owned, members only club. They have tried to generate enough interest in the past and have finally enlisted enough dues-paying members to make payments on the loan. The ball is now in the banks court. Harris stated that the bank has been willing to work with them in the past and things could now happen quickly. The group will continue to search for more members, both full and social. A full membership is $250 and a $100 food minimum a month, while a social membership is $75 and a $100 food minimum a month. While they have found numerous former members returning to the fold, the group will also seek corporate memberships and keep talking it up to get closer to 300 members. If you are interested in a membership, Phone Milton Abell, 770-461-7850 or e-mail to wwccmembersownit@aol.com for more information.
