Bad Links? | Grantville Days set for this weekend By JOHN THOMPSON Residents from Coweta and surrounding counties will be headed to the western part of the county this weekend for the annual Grantville Days celebration. The festival has become one of the must attend events of the late spring and this year the festival runs Saturday and Sunday. The festival features a carnival, arts and crafts, book signings and music. On Saturday, the winners of the art competition will be unveiled at 11 a.m. At noon, the hot dog eating contest will be held in Colley Park. From 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., the baking contests are staged. One of the highlights of the celebration starts at 2:30 p.m. when the parade winds its way down Main Street, crosses the railroad tracks to Church Street and heads toward Grantville Elementary School. At 3 p.m., the talent show is staged in the Grantville Elementary School Auditorium. The town dance starts at 6 p.m. in Colley Park and lasts until 10 p.m. On Sunday, there will be a Community Pancake Breakfast provided by the churches of Grantville and held at the First Baptist Church of Grantville from 8 a.m. through 9:30 p.m. At 12:30 p.m., Arlington Priest will perform at the Depot. The winners of the talent show will perform at the Depot at 1 p.m., followed by the announcement of the Best Yard Award.
