Bad Links? | New library planned for Senoia By JOHN THOMPSON Book lovers in Senoia rejoiced Monday night after hearing of the citys plans for a new library. Mayor Bob Hannah announced during Monday nights council meeting that the county would spend $500,000 in Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax funds to build the library. The facility would be located next to City Hall in a vacant lot that is currently used for parking. Hannah said the city would lease the faciilty from the county and was excited to see the project move forward so quickly. However, the city also learned Monday night that another site may be available for the building. Resident Paul McKnight, who owns several buildings in the city, said that he could make his old cotton gin site available to the city. The land is next to the post office, and would provide more parking than the site next to City Hall. I assume you are talking about selling it to us. Thats something well have to consider, said Hannah. The city has been planning a new facility for years, and recently moved into the old police station because it offered more room.
