What do you think of this story? Bad Links? | Three days of music, music, musicAtlanta expands its yearly rock fest
By Lindsay Bianchi You may not be able to see every band thats playing Atlantas annual three day music festival Music Midtown, but you can sure try. Starting this Friday at 6:15 p.m., local artist Sali Hagan opens the 99X Locals Only Stage while Young Capone kicks things off for the Hot 107.5/Fox 5 Stage. From then on, its non-stop entertainment as six diverse venues vie for concert-goers attention. Along with the Locals Only Stage and the urban flavored Fox 5 Stage where The Game, Groove Stain, MC Lyte, Whodini, Biz Markie, and Black Eyed Peas make some noise, Kicks 101.5 offers a slew of country performers such as Trace Adkins, Keith Urban, Clay Walker and Newnans own Alan Jackson. The 96 Rock/ UPN Atlanta Stage features classic name rock acts like Lou Reed, Counting Crows, John Fogerty, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, and Def Leppard. On the 99X Comcast Stage, catch The Killers, The Pixies, Devo, and The White Stripes. One act performing on the Kicks 101.5 Stage Saturday from 3 - 3:45 p.m. is local favorites, The Wrights. They describe their debut Down This Road, as a "Lincoln Town Car on a country road." Husband and wife act, Shannon and Adam Wright hail from Newnan, but have found their calling, according to a country music Web site, writing country songs without cliché, as set against a humid-sweet Georgia backdrop of honky tonk-meets-blues bar. Together since 1998, Adam and Shannon fell in love with their music and each other. "There was an immediate connection musically. We played for four hours that night...like we'd been playing together for a long time." Shannon recalled. The inclusion of local and lesser known acts alongside big name performers is what makes Music Midtown a unique concert experience. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, including Publix, Tower Records, Braves Clubhouse by phoning 404-249-6400, or by visiting www.atlantaconcerts.com Tickets can be purchased at the Festival gates, based on availability. Will Call is back in the Civic Center ticket office at Piedmont & Currier Ave. | | |
