Builder meeting June 9The Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia will recognize the recipients of the associations 2005 scholarships at its June meeting, scheduled Thursday, June 9, at Glendalough Manor in Tyrone. The event, which will begin at 6:30 p.m., will have Dr. Ike Reighard as keynote speaker. The former senior pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville and founding pastor of NorthStar Church, Dr. Reighard is now chief people officer for HomeBank. The list of 2005 winners includes Bethany Barnard, McIntosh High School; Brittany Barnard, Starrs Mill High School; Jodi-Ann Bigby, Sandy Creek High School; Jordan Waddle, Fayette County High School; Jorge Duran-Colindres, Emily England and Kristin Perry, Northgate High School; Hayden Hinton, East Coweta High School; Jarvis Jennings III and Deangelo Sanchez, Newnan High School; and Elizabeth Crawford, Pike County High School. The associations $1,000 scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from the area served by the association who are entering a college in the state of Georgia. Employees of businesses related to the building industry and/or students interested in field of study related to the industry receive preference for scholarships. The scholarship program, which is funded by the associations Scholarship House project, was initiated 21 years ago, and to date, the association has awarded 188 scholarships totaling $251,500.
