Bad Links? | Harrell to speak to Fayette Dem. WomenCarlotta Harrell, candidate for State school superintendent, will address the Fayette Democratic Women at their June breakfast meeting, scheduled for Saturday at 9 a.m. at Right on Thyme Restaurant in Fayetteville. Harrell will speak about her campaign and outline her goals for the superintendents office. Harrell grew up in Atlanta, was educated in the citys public school system and received her Bachelor of Science degree in public administration from Brenau University. Her career experience includes 15 years in law enforcement, including qw years in upper level management. Her responsibilities in this role included policy development and implementation, budget management, grant writing and funding. Harrell has also been a community and education activist, and substitute teacher in the public school system. Harrell has spent 20 years working with children in the school system, community, and church. She has developed and developed and implemented programs that service the community. My mission is to provide excellence in education through superior leadership and service, Harrell stated. I am committed to attaining high levels of achievement and learning for all students so that they can become competitive, successful, and productive individuals in our community, society, and workforce. My goals are to promote quality educational practices; promote the achievement of high standards for all students; partner with educators, families and the community; promote educational adequacy and accountability; empower leaders and educators with decision-making responsibilities; provide leadership in the area of real educational reform; actively advocate for increased funding to provide quality teachers and educational services for all students; improve proficiency and academic achievement in all subject areas; provide a safe environment for our children, teachers, and staff; be accessible and available to parents, administrators and the community; and provide equal education to all students, she added. Fayette Democratic Women invites all interested women in the south metro area to attend their meeting. A continental breakfast will be served for $3 per person beginning at 9 a.m. The meeting will be called to order at 9:20. The group meets on the second Saturday of every month for breakfast at Right on Thyme, 174 N. Glynn Street (Ga. Highway 85) in Fayetteville. For directions, call 770-716-8400.
