Bad Links? | Speedway heats up with Iceman featureIn the 50 lap Iceman feature last week at Senoia Speedway, Mike Davidson recorded the fastest time in qualifying with a 14.561 lap, then rolled a three on the dice; placing him in the third starting position. This advanced Steven Barker to the pole position with Phil Peppers joining him on the front row. When the green flag waved, Peppers jumped out front followed by Barker, Davidson and Otis Brooks. On lap seven, Peppers and Davidson were involved in an incident in turn three which resulted in a spin causing both drivers to have to start in the back of the field on the restart. This advanced Barker into the lead. By lap 18, Peppers had battled his way back through the field and recaptured the lead, followed by Brooks and Davidson. Peppers was on the move when on lap 20 his machine was clearly off the pace as he dropped low on the speedway allowing Brooks to take the lead. Davidson continued to pressure Brooks for the lead and on lap 36, Davidson made the pass for the top spot and never looked back. He would go on to take the win, followed by: Brooks, Tony Clark, Barker and Larry Petty rounding out the top five. In the Aarons Pro Challenge 25 lap feature, Trent Mayo jumped out to an early lead with Bre Sharp close behind. Mayo would continue to show the way until lap eight when Sharp took the inside grove to challenge Mayo for the lead. The two drivers battled door-to-door until lap 11 when Sharp was able to complete the pass for the lead. With Sharp in the lead, Mayo was quickly confronted with a charging Kyle Mitchell, who advanced into the second place position on lap 15. While Mayo and Mitchell battled for position, Sharp established a commanding lead on the field and went on to take the checkered flag and her first win as an Aarons Pro Challenge driver. In the Bandolero 15 lap feature, Kyle Kitchens was in the lead as the field recorded the first lap. As Corey Hart charged out of turn four he was involved in an incident which caused his machine to roll several times as he crossed the start-finish line on his roof. Hart was not injured in the first lap incident but his machine was retired for the evening. When the race resumed, the number of laps in the feature was reduced to 10 with several machines being damaged in the crash. Kitchens would go on to take the win, followed by Kyle McCallum and Jody Pilkenton. Following an impressive win in his heat race, Jim DeGraff recorded his first win at Senoia Speedway in the 25 lap Modified Street Stock feature. Doug Ludwig led the Pro Legends 25 lap event from flag-to-flag. Trey White recorded another win by leading the Sportsman 25 lap feature from flag-to-flag. Kevin Carmichael took the United States Lawnmower Racing Association 10 lap feature. For more information on this weekends racing events, visit www.senoiaspeedway.com.
