What do you think of this story? | Concert is SaturdayThe Peachtree City Civic Ballet Company will premiere two new works during its spring dance concert June 4. The dancers will perform excerpts from the ballet Les Sylphides, directed by Kathleen Senger, and a contemporary ballet choreographed by artist-In-residence, Brenda Hotard. According to Senger, these 2 very different ballets illustrate the diversity of the troupe of young dancers from Fayette and Coweta counties. Les Sylphides is part of the classical tradition performed in long white tutus. Hotards choreography is set to a jazzy score of Brubeck music, Unsquare Dance and Take Five. Hotard was the recipient of the Professional Choreographers Award in Washington DC in 1984. She was commissioned by the non-profit Peachtree City Civic Ballet Company to create this original ballet for the 27 members of the Junior and Senior Ballet Companies. The spring dance concert will also feature students of the Peachtree City School of Dance. Over 100 dancers will perform in two acts; In The Garden and This Joint Is Jumping. The concert is June 4 at Our Lady Of Mercy High School beginning at 7 p.m. Ticket may be purchased for $5 by phone at (770) 632-1544 or will be available at the door. | |
