Bad Links? | Bloodmobile visits ice cream shop TuesdayBrusters Ice Cream in Peachtree City will host another blood drive for the American Red Cross Tuesday from 2-7 p.m. The Red Cross bloodmobile will be there to help collect precious pints in an effort to make up for the traditional summer blood crunch, brought on when regular donor drives such as those in area schools cant be held due to the summer break. Anyone who cant make Tuesdays drive but wishes to donate can call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE to schedule an appointment, which is recommended but not necessary though it does reduce expected wait times. Another blood drive will be held Monday, June 6 at the Gathering Place on McIntosh Trail in Peachtree City from 2:30-7:30 p.m. Blood may also be donated at the Stockbridge Donor Center, located off Ga. Highway 138 at Southcrest Parkway. Blood is needed for emergencies and for those who have cancer, blood disorders, sickle cell, anemia and other illnesses. Nearly 5 milllion people receive blood transfusions each year, according to the Red Cross. Donors can give blood every 56 days. For more information, visit www.givebloodredcross.org. |
