Bad Links? | Busy summer planned at PYC Recreation DepartmentBALLROOM DANCE-The Gathering Place The basic class for beginners or people wanting a review with brand new impressive steps never taught before will be offered in this basic class, the dances taught will be Swing and Salsa. The Salsa is already becoming an international dance, worldwide and becoming the most popular dance of Japan. Both dances have stood the test of time and would fit in any social function. This dance is taught in a way that no dance experience is necessary. The basic class last a full hour on each dance with individual attention when needed and time to have fun practicing the dance steps. The last hour will be for advanced students only working on dance technique and advanced steps of all ballroom dances. The class number is 1200.507 and accepts ages 13 years to adults. The class is held on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. for beginners and 9-10 p.m. for the advanced, July 16-August 20 for only $31 per person. BALLROOM PREP - Glenloch Recreation Center This is the ideal class for someone who has no past knowledge of dancing, felt rushed in a previous dance class, or for senior citizens who have not danced in a while and would like a review of dances and learn some new steps. This class moves at a slower pace in order to cover all the necessary fundamentals and all the individual attention necessary to get the background to dance with confidence, and be able to learn other dances in the future. This class will focus on wedding dancing with the Swing & Salsa. The Instructor for this class is James Stone. The class number is 1205.507 and accepts ages 13 years to adults. The class is held on Fridays from 7-8:30 p,m., July 15-August 19, 2005. You can register for this class starting June 15 for only $31 per person. SUMMER TENNIS SERIES - Glenloch Recreation Center The Peachtree City Parks and Recreation Department is offering a SUMMER TENNIS SERIES at Glenloch Tennis Courts. There are classes for munchkins (4-7 years old) from 8:15 to 9 a.m. which introduce kids to the joy of tennis focusing on ball drill and control, Juniors (7-10 years old) from 9-10:30 a.m. introducing kids to all fundamentals of tennis play, including ground strokes, volleys, serve, and play, and Junior Stars (10-15 year old) from 10:30 a.m.-noon focusing on match play, the use of spins, footwork, and strategy will be taught. The instructor for these classes is Craig Healy. There are nine three-day sessions offered through out the summer. The first session is May 31-June 2, second session: June 7-9, third session: June14-16, fourth session: June 21-23, fifth session: June 28-30, sixth session: July 5-7, seventh session: July 12-14, eighth session: July 19-21, and ninth session: July 26-28. TECHNIQUES TO IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH - Gathering Place Extend your life and be healthy by eating raw and living foods. WOMENS BEGINNING RUNNING - Riley Field This basic running program is designed for beginners. If you are interested in maintaining or improving your level of fitness through running, this class is for you! Individuals will learn the basic principles of running, nutrition, mental preparation, stretching, and injury prevention. In addition, a basic physical fitness test and a running program will be offered to each runner. MARATHON 101 RUNNING PROGRAM - Riley Field This training program offered for the first time for the male and female marathoner and /or the experienced runner. We start from your fitness level foundation of aerobic endurance and build on that. We do this by progressively increasing your workload before you approach your designated marathon. The program is involved and requires extensive communication and individualized attention. Session one June 4-30, session two July 2-23, and session three August 6-27 on Saturdays, from 7:50-8:50 a.m. for $61. Train with Instructor Margaret Sue Bozgoz. Whether you are new to running or experienced. Weekly training schedules and running specific strength training is provided to improve your 1 mile, 5k, 10k, 10 mile, and or 1/2 marathon performance. The training will bring you to a new level of fitness. Session one June 4-30, session two July 2-23, and session three August 6-27 on Saturdays, from 8:50-9:50 a.m. for $56. BELLY DANCE FOR FUN & EXERCISE - Glenloch Movement has become a profession, an avocation, an area of scholarship and a source of entertainment for more people now than ever before in history. This dance is artistic, great in depth of expression, and a proven therapy for body and mind. Learn The Art of Belly Dancing. A performing troupe is being formed for those interested, to exhibit as a cultural art form of dance. This class is available to 12 years old to adults.
