Bad Links? | Fayette County makes it to Elite EightThe Fayette County Tigers are moving up in the Class AAAAA playoffs after defeating the Camden County Wildcats in two games. The Tigers (23-8) won the first game 4-3 and then won the second game 11-3. In the first game, Rick Williams hit a three run home run in the first inning and RiChard Davis hit a solo shot in the fourth to account for Fayette Countys offense. Brent Moss and Joey Arnold combined their efforts on the mound with Moss pitching four innings and Arnold tossing three in the win. The second game saw the Fayette County bats heat up once more. Williams hit his second home run of the series and, according to Coach Robert Townsend, Moss and Davis both had outstanding days at the plate. Austin Wilkes pitched a complete game for the Tigers, striking out five batters in seven innings. Our pitching looked real good and were getting good hits at crucial times, said Townsend. The Tigers have scored 41 runs in their four state playoff wins and will need their bats to remain red hot as they travel to take on Lassiter on Tuesday. Lassiter (24-7) had a 13 game winning streak from Mar. 29 - Apr. 29 but has since gone 4-3. In the state playoffs they defeated Brookwood in three games and then beat Centennial in two games, 6-2 and 18-7 last Wednesday. The Trojans have also held their opponents to three runs or fewer in 14 of their wins, including two in the state playoffs. To get to Lassiter High School, travel north on I-75 to Exit 267A. Merge right onto Highway 5 and go approximately one mile to the first traffic light. Turn right onto Sandy Plains Road. and travel approximately six miles to the traffic light at Shallowford Road. Turn left onto Shallowford Road and the school is on the right. The games are scheduled to be played on Tuesday afternoon.
