Bad Links? | English advances to second round of selection process By LEE WILLIAMS Griffin Judicial Circuit Chief Superior Court Judge Paschal English Jr. is among 17 candidates chosen to compete for the seat of Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Norman Fletcher who retires on June 30, and this time he hopes he doesn’t draw the purple rock. English, a 61-year-old Birmingham, Ala., finished in fourth place when he competed for the $1 million prize in the “Survivor 4: Marquesas” television show in May 2003. English, who was affectionately called Pappy never received one elimination vote from his peers. However, English was eliminated from the game after he drew a purple rock.
