Bad Links? | Man accused of knowingly spreading HIV By LEE WILLIAMS An HIV-positive Emory medical student charged with allegedly knowingly having unprotected sex with at least three people in Peachtree City and Atlanta could find his way back behind bars, a judge could decide in June. Garry Wayne Carriker II, 26, of 205 Pine Trail Road, Fayetteville, was arrested Nov. 3, on one felony count of reckless conduct. He was released from the Fayette County Jail on a $5,600 bond. Carriker was charged in response to an allegation levied by a Peachtree City man that between Dec. 10, 2003 and April 30, 2004, Carriker, an HIV person with knowledge of being infected, did engage in a sexual act with (someone), without previously disclosing to the other party the fact that he is HIV positive, contrary to the laws of said state, the good order, peace and dignity thereof, according to court documents. Since his release, Fayette County officials learned Carriker is accused of allegedly committing the same act in Fulton County. Therefore, court officials will hold a bond revocation hearing for Carriker June 10, court records show. On Aug. 10, Carriker is expected to be arraigned on the Fayette County charge, and the case will likely appear on the September trial calendar of Fayette County Superior Court. Calls made to the Atlanta Police Department were not returned. Details regarding the Atlanta cases were unavailable at presstime.
