F’ville United Methodist to offer ‘MAD’ camp for kids

The Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will offer “MAD” Camp, a Music, Arts and Discovery Adventure for children entering kindergarten through fifth grade, Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15, from 9 a.m. until noon at the church.

The fee is $100 plus a $25 registration fee. Those registering by June 12 receive a $5 discount.

The week-long adventure allows children to experience music from around the world, explore the arts, and discover ways the arts are used in everyday life. During the camp children will:

• Learn the music of other countries while discovering arts and crafts that are unique to different areas of the world.

• Learn how to capture and compose great photos.

• Create a radio or television commercial for a new product.

• Learn to work for a television station. People in the industry will share what they do and the skills they needed to succeed in the business.

• Learn about the culinary arts and create a unique display of food.

• Learn about how products are packaged and design their own wrapping paper.

• Write their own song to share with the world.

• Learn and enjoy some music games that even their parents can’t do.

• Explore different art mediums — clay, paint, paper mache and more.

• Design and produce their own, original T-shirt.
