Bad Links? | School system receives What Parents Want AwardFayette County Schools are giving parents what they want in public education, according to SchoolMatch, the nations largest school selection consulting firm, which has just awarded the system with its 14th annual What Parents Want Award. Each year SchoolMatch surveys the nations 15,573 school systems to find those meeting parent criteria as outlined in more than 97,000 parent questionnaires completed by SchoolMatch clients. Fayette is among the 16.2 percent (2,528) of the nations school systems designated as meeting the criteria for 2005. The questionnaires revealed that parents most often look for schools that are competitive in academic test scores, accredited, nationally recognized for excellence, competitive in teacher salaries, above average in instructional expenditures on a national percentile basis, above average in expenditures for library/media services on a national percentile basis and known for small class sizes. SchoolMatch helps corporate employee families find schools that match the needs of their children.
