Bad Links? | A Royal dining experienceNew Chinese bistro now open in FayettevilleBy KRISTINE FORTUNATO There is no shortage of Chinese restaurants in Fayetteville, and the newest is one of the best. Royal Chef China Bistro, now open in the new Publix shopping center Summit Point in south Fayetteville, serves up traditional favorites and exotic specialties to hungry customers every day. Lunch is served seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Choose from the wide variety of lunch traditions, and your meal includes rice, crab rangoon and a spring roll, or a choice of three soups, the traditional wonton, egg drop, or hot and sour. Chicken lunches start as low as $5.25, and customers are bound to find their favorites. Whether you are a fan of sweet and sour chicken, sesame chicken, or General Tso's chicken, the menu at Royal Chef has it all, and it is all delicious and generously portioned. For seafood lovers, the menu is even more extensive, starting at $5.50 for lunch. Dishes include Szechuan shrimp, honey shrimp, calamari dishes and black pepper scallops, to name just a fraction of the choices. Royal Chef China Bistro boasts the modern style of the restaurant, and the decor succeeds in being elegant while still remaining warm and comfortable. The restaurant's head chef has over 20 years of experience. The restaurant is a true family-owned and operated business, says owner Winston. His brother owns Chopsticks China Bistro in Peachtree City, and encouraged the new venture. "Ten years ago I moved to the United States from Hong Kong and I always knew I wanted to have a restaurant that cooked really good food," Winston said. "Many of our dishes are authentic Cantonese." The emphasis of the restaurant is on top-quality food with quick, friendly service. Delivery is available within a five-mile radius of the restaurant. Some of his favorites dishes include the Seafood Bird Nest, which combines shrimp, lobster tail and sea scallops with Chinese vegetables, all cooked in a white creamy sauce. Other chef specials on the menu include the Fresh Coconut Walnut Prawn, comprised of prawns slightly battered and fried until golden and crispy, then stir fried with ground maridera and fresh coconut sauce. Prices for the chef specials range from $9.95 to $15.95. Dinner is served from 3 to 10 pm and includes a full range of chicken, beef, pork, seafood and vegetable entrees, starting at $7.50. According to Winston, the most popular orders include the Mongolian Triple of chicken, beef and shrimp, sesame chicken and General Tso's chicken. Each week features a new special not found on the menu, and the menu changes seasonally, offering a lighter fare in the summertime, such as chicken or shrimp with sauteed vegetables. Royal Chef China Bistro also offers catering services with the ability to cater for large groups or huge events with hundreds of people, from birthday parties to corporate meetings. Royal Chef China Bistro is located at 840 South Glynn Street in the Summit Point shopping center. Hours of operation are 10:30-3 p.m. for lunch and 3-10 p.m. for dinner, seven days a week.
