Bad Links? | McIntosh looking for 2 titles By MICHAEL BOYLAN The top ranked McIntosh varsity boys and girls soccer teams and their fans are hoping for a repeat of the 2000 season tonight. It was in the spring of 2000 when both teams won soccer championships in Class AAAA. Tonight they are both 80 minutes away from adding two more trophies to the schools trophy case. The Lady Chiefs (23-0-1) have stormed through the state playoffs this season, scoring 30 goals and not allowing one. They will host third-ranked St. Pius X (12-5-4) tonight at 7 p.m. and if they win, it will be their second consecutive state title. The McIntosh boys team (21-2-1) havent lost since March 18 and they arent looking to stop that streak any time soon. In their four playoff wins, the Chiefs have outscored their opponents 10-2. Tonight they will face their region rivals and last years AAAA state champs, the second ranked Woodward Academy War Eagles, for the AAAA state title. McIntosh has defeated Woodward Academy twice this season 1-0, once in the regular season and once for the region 4-AAAA championship. They will play at 9 p.m. For an in-depth preview to tonights games, see the story on B1.
