Bad Links? | Studdard named state GOP vice chairJean Studdard of Fayetteville was named a vice chair of the Georgia Republican Party during last weekends state convention in Savannah. Delegates also re-elected Alec Poitevint Saturday as state party chairman. I am humbled by the confidence my fellow Republicans have placed in me, said Poitevint. Together, we will build on our momentum, and make history once again in 2006. Poitevint, along with the entire executive committee slate, was elected by acclamation by delegates. The elections capped the two-day state convention that featured appearances by Gov. Sonny Perdue, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, U.S. senators Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson, and other party leaders. Over 1,500 delegates, alternates, and guests attended the convention. The following slate was elected to statewide party offices: Alec Poitevint, Bainbridge, chairman. Sue Everhart, Marietta, first vice chair. Carolyn Garcia, Kennesaw, second vice chair. Jean Studdard, Fayetteville, vice chair North. John Padgett, Athens, vice chair Central. Gloria Alday, Kathleen, vice chair Southeast. Doug Silvis, Thomasville, vice chair Southwest. Bert Guy, St. Marys, secretary. Rusty Simpson, Tifton, assistant secretary. Bob Mayzes, Cartersville, treasurer. Virginia Galloway, Hiram, chair of over 80,000. Brad Scott, Ringgold, chair of under 80,000. |
