Bad Links? | Playoff-boundTigers wrap up regular season with winBy JOHN MUNFORD With an extra-inning 8-4 win over Mundys Mill Wednesday night under their belts, the Fayette County High baseball squad has a little momentum heading into the playoffs, which will start Thursday or Friday. The Tigers, who tied for second in the region but dropped to fourth due to tiebreakers, will face off against Redan in a best-of-three series the end of this week. Redans field doesnt have lights, so the games must be played during the day. Coach Robert Townsend said he hoped the extra-inning win Wednesday would help give the Tigers an advantage heading into the playoffs. The game was tied at 4-4 when starting pitcher Brent Moss left the game. His replacement, Joey Arnall, kept Mundys Mill from scoring through the eighth inning, picking up the win. The Tigers last two insurance runs scored when a Mundys Mill fielder lost a sky-high popup in the lights, allowing the ball to drop around first base. Because there were two outs, the Tigers runners were chugging for home, and they scored when Mundys Mill couldnt record the putout. |
