Bad Links? | SMHS records perfect region seasonPlayoffs looming next weekBy JOHN MUNFORD With a 12-0 region record, Starrs Mills baseball team has clinched the first place slot heading into the playoffs. The Panthers will face Jonesboro in a doubleheader tonight, with game one at 4:15 p.m. This will be senior night for Starrs Mill. The Panthers beat Fayette County Friday 7-1. Starting pitcher Nick Terry went the distance, allowing one unearned run with seven strikeouts, two walks and four hits. He improved his record to 4-0 on the year. Kory Ison solo homer to leadoff second. Andrew Robinson was 2-4 with a homer and two RBI. Monday night the Panthers beat Newnan 8-2. Blake Nation pitched a complete game, allowing 2 earned runs while striking out four, walking three and scattering six hits. Kyle McCreary had three hits in the contest with two runs scored. Carter Scurry, Ison and Phillip Shell each had two hits; Ison had 3 RBI on the night. |
