Bad Links? | Teams hoping for region wins as the regular season endsEvery win a team gets in the regular season is important but the wins a team collects down the stretch against region opponents are even more important as things could come down to the tiebreaker of the record between two teams. Though Starrs Mill isnt in too much danger of being tied with any region opponent with a perfect region record going into their game at Fayette County this afternoon, each win provides that much more breathing room. The Panthers defeated Lovejoy 5-0 on Monday. Nick Terry threw four strong innings and Lee Jones pitched the final three in the shutout. They started the game with two runs in the first as Kyle McCreary stole two bases and scored on an error and Ryan Lockett hit an RBI single. In the second inning, Philip Shell hit an RBI single and later he and MCreary would score on a fielding error. Though they would get no more runs in the game, their pitching and defense would keep Lovejoy in check. Terry struck out six batters, while Jones would strike out five. Starrs Mill beat East Coweta yesterday 10-7. They will play at Fayette County tonight at 7 p.m. McIntosh needs every region win and, more importantly every sub-region win, they can get. They are currently 8-7 in region play and 4-4 in sub -region play with a game against Whitewater scheduled for yesterday after the paper went to press and a game tonight at Creekside. McIntosh got a 13-0 win over Woodward Academy on Monday, the Chiefs senior night. Brendan Hall threw a one hitter for the Chiefs, striking out seven batters. Hall also went 3-for-3 at the plate, hitting two home runs and driving in five runs. Trevor Pippin went 2-for-3 with two RBI, as did Sam Hogan and Tyler Harris hit a two run home run. McIntosh lost to Northgate 4-2 on Wednesday. The Chiefs split with both Northgate and Woodward but were swept by Sandy Creek. |
