Bad Links? | Holocaust remembrance service set for this Sunday By JUDY KILGORE Although the official recognition day isnt until May 6, Congregation Bnai Israel, in sponsorship with Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City, will present a Yom Hashoah Holocaust Remembrance Day service Sunday, May 1, at 4 p.m. at Congregation Bnai Israel in Fayetteville. A reception will culminate the event. The public is invited. The day of remembrance, or Yom Hashoah UMered HaGetaot, was proclaimed in 1951 by Israels parliament and was designated as being the 27th of Nissan on the Jewish calendar. The name was later simplified to Yom Hashoah and, this year, falls on May 6. This weekends interdenominational gathering in Fayetteville is a part of Bnai Israels commitment to reach out and help educate the community on this most tragic event which has affected Jewish people, if not all people, worldwide. The event coordinator is Niles Baker. Bnai Israel is the fastest growing Jewish congregation in the south Metro Atlanta area and is located at Ga. Hwy. 54 and Corinth Road near the Clayton County line. The congregation of Bnai Israel and members of Christ Our Shepherd urge people of all faiths to attend this special service. For more information on the service, call 678-817-7162.
