Nicholas Kyle Cooper, 25, of Wynnmead Parkway, Peachtree City, was charged with shoplifting following an incident at Wal-Mart, 125 Pavilion Parkway on April 18. An employee alleged they saw Cooper take five DVDs out of the wrappers and put them in his pants pockets. The DVDs included “Against the Ropes,” “School Rock,” and “Cabin Fever,” all valued at $47.20. Cooper allegedly told authorities he stole the DVDs to pay a debt. Stolen trailer: Chad Murphy of Thomaston reported someone stole a trailer stocked with tools from a construction site at 765 Ga. Highway 54 West. The value of the trailer was unknown at the time of the report. Stolen cash: Kendall P. Holloway, 48, of Cobblestone Boulevard, reported someone stole $1,100 from her automobile. Stolen bike: Jonathan McIlwaine, 19, of Sharon Drive, Fayetteville, reported someone stole his mountain bike, valued at $100, from his home. The bike was recovered at the Brandywine apartment complex. Stolen radio: Tony L. Janney, 45, an employee of Waldrop and Associates, 91 Howell Ave., Fairburn, reported someone entered a 1996 Ford F-250 and stole a dash radio, valued at $100. Theft: Kim A. Byrd, 48, of McBride Road, Fayetteville, reported someone entered a black Ford F-150, while parked at Tinseltown, 134 Pavilion Parkway, and stole her purse, which contained money, credit cards and other items, all valued at $700. Theft: Wesley Okeefe Preston, 35, of Woodknoll Lane, Jonesboro, reported someone stole a cell phone, valued at $50, that he left in his shopping cart at Wal-Mart, 125 Pavilion Parkway. Fayette Co. Fire and Emergency Services Forest fire: At 7:18 p.m. April 18, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel responded to a forest fire at 125 Lockwood Road. Lightning strike: At 1:59 p.m. April 22, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel responded to a call at 115 Lucy’s Place after a lightning strike had been reported. No fire was reported. Storage shed fire: At 1 a.m. April 23, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel responded to a storage shed fire at 125 Woodsong Drive. Fayetteville firefighters also responded to the call as part of the department’s automatic and mutual aid pacts. Fayette Fire Dept. Chemical spill: At 4:32 a.m. April 18, Fayetteville firefighters responded to a chemical spill at 110 Brandywine Blvd. Controlled burn: At 9:53 p.m. April 19, Fayetteville firefighters responded to a controlled burn at Johnson Avenue and Lee Street. Cooking fire: At 8:34 a.m. April 21, Fayetteville firefighters responded to a cooking fire at 140 Lake Drive. The fire was contained to the stove. Gas leak: At 11:01 a.m. April 21, Fayetteville firefighters responded to a gas leak at 127 McElroy Road. Firefighters established a safe area while the gas company repaired the leak. Accident: At 3:42 p.m. April 22, Fayetteville firefighters responded to an accident with injuries at 720 N. Glynn St. From April 18-24, Fayetteville firefighters received 34 calls for help. Peachtree City Fire Dept. Controlled Burn: At 7:14 p.m. April 18, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to reported fire at 103 Southern Trace. An authorized controlled burn was in progress. All regulations were being followed and burn permits were in order. Controlled Burn: At 2:26 p.m. April 21, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a reported fire at 201 Valley View. An authorized controlled burn was in progress. All regulations were being followed and burn permits were in order. Cooking fire: At 7:21 p.m. April 21, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a reported structure fire at 821 Bedford Park. This was a kitchen fire located in the stove. The fire was out upon arrival. Accident: At 2:31 p.m. April 22, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a vehicle accident at Georgia Highway 54 and Walt Banks Road. Firefighters and EMS personnel checked for injuries. Patients were transported to the hospital by Peachtree City Fire/rescue ambulances. Structure fire: At 9:07 p.m. April 23, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a structure fire at 200 Martingale Drive. This was caused by electrical problem. The fire was out upon arrival. Firefighters advised resident to contact electrician and not use power outlets in area of problem until electrician had found problem. From April 18 to 24, Peachtree City Fire/Rescue personnel and equipment responded to 48 calls for help.
