McIntoshs Nader Jarun was named Boys 4A player of the Month in March and Coach Bunky Colvin was named Boys 4A Coach of the Month for March. They were also named Boys 4A Player and Coach of the Year. Starrs Mills Lucy Martin and Coach Greg Shifflett were named Girls 5A Player of the Month for March and Girls 5A Coach of the Month for March. They were also named Girls 5A Player and Coach of the Year. Starrs Mills Chris Griffith was named Boys 5A Student-Athlete of the Year. McIntoshs Jessica Lenze was named the Girls 4A Player of the Year. Sandy Creek graduate Calvin Johnson continued his impressive spring with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team by catching six passes for 121 yards and a touchdown in Techs final scrimmage game of the spring. I think weve come to expect everything that Calvin does, said Coach Chan Gailey. Hes obviously a great player who can go out and make some big plays, and he tends to do that every time he's on the field. Fayetteville resident Sean Blackman, a sophomore on the U.S. Naval Academys mens gymnastics team, was a champion in the rings at the USA Championship. Blackman edged out his brother Josh, a senior, is the event with a score of 9.6 to Joshs 9.3. Josh also took third place on the parallel bars. |
