Bad Links? | CCSU honors distinguished alumni at Apr. 21 dinnerThe Clayton College & State University Alumni Association will meet Apr. 21 at the Harry S. Downs Center for Continuing Education for the 13th Annual Alumni Meeting and Dinner, with the honorable Nadine Thomas (Ellenwood), former state senator, 2003 graduate of Clayton State, and last years School of Health Sciences Distinguished Alumni as keynote speaker. Each year the Alumni Association members and guests gather for the annual dinner to reminisce about the University, its past, present and future, to discuss the Associations accomplishments, plan the coming years events, install new officers, and recognize distinguished alumnus. This year the Association has added a silent auction to the venue to raise capital for future Alumni activities. This years theme Seasons of Change will reflect the metamorphosis of Clayton State; the many changes that have taken place over the past 36 years and the many changes expected for the future. Ive had the privilege to witness many changes over the years at Clayton State, said Reda Rowell, director of Development/Alumni Relations. Transitioning from a student to a campus administrator gives me a unique perspective. Anticipating the many changes in store for the University, I am encouraged by the certainty that some things remain constant; the outstanding personal and professional achievements of our Alumni after leaving Clayton State. Due to the overwhelming number of candidates submitted this year for the Distinguished Alumni award, committee members are anticipating a record number of attendees to the annual event. One award will be given to the outstanding alumnus of each nominating school, plus the Distinguished Alumni award will be given overall to one individual for their outstanding accomplishments. Three criteria were used to nominate the alumni: the individual has made a significant contribution to their career area; has demonstrated leadership or achievement in their field; and has shown community involvement that makes a difference. Nominations are evaluated and the members of the Annual Alumni Meeting & Dinner Committee make the final decisions. The Clayton State Alumni Association cordially invites all alumni and community members to attend the upcoming dinner to catch a glimpse of the exciting future that lies ahead for the Alma Mater. Whether you graduated from Clayton Junior College, Clayton State College, or Clayton College & State University, or if you merely attended classes at the institution, you are an alumnus.
