Bad Links? | Kids to pick up trash Sat. for Earth DayAll elementary school children in Peachtree City are being challenged to help clean up the citys cart paths, neighborhoods and schools Saturday in an event tied to Earth Day. Trash bags can be dropped off at marked locations in the parking lots of Braelinn, Crabapple, Huddleton, Kedron and Peachtree City elementary schools. The initiative is the idea of McIntosh High School junior Jennifer Learnard, who got support from Peachtree CIty Mayor Steve Brown and the citys Public Works Department. Students are encouraged to include their parents and siblings in the effort. The beauty of this program is it is easy and fun to do, Learnard said, adding that she hopes to raise awareness of Earth Day among the citys youngsters. Every year my little brother picks up a bag of trash on Earth Day, and he really enjoys doing it, Learnard said. |
