Bad Links? | PTC may move animal cases from city court to state courtBy JOHN MUNFORD Citations issued to Peachtree City residents by county animal control officers might soon be handled in Fayette County State Court instead of the citys municipal court. The change, requested by county officials, will be considered by the City Council Thursday night at its regular meeting. It would not affect animal-related citations issued by the citys police department, which would still come before municipal court. Although the change might decrease the revenue of municipal court slightly, City Attorney Ted Meeker and staff have no problem with changing the venue for cases made by the countys animal control staff. Council is also expected to consider a variance that would allow a resident in the Rockspray subdivision to build a six-foot fence instead of the maximum four-foot fence in his backyard because it is placed in a setback. Staff is recommending denial of the variance. A rezoning for a 4-acre tract zoned estate residential on Greenwood Lane is also on the councils agenda. The owners want the land rezoned R-43, which requires minimum lot sizes of one acre, which is consistent with the nearby Kedron Hills subdivision, according to City Planner David Rast. The planning commission is recommending approval of the rezoning, and Rast concurs, indicating that the proposal is in line with the future land use plan for the area outlining that residential development becomes less dense moving away from the village center. |
