Bad Links? | Great food to complement the weatherBy F. C. FOODIE As the flowers start blooming and the pollen starts aggravating nasal passages, many residents start thinking about getting outdoors and using their decks for alfresco eating areas. But with all the time constraints faced these days, many folks have enough time to bring plates and cups to the great outdoors, but are too tired to cook. Fortunately, many of our fine restaurants offer take-out dining, which offers quality food without all that bothersome preparation time. Here are some of my picks that are sure to be a hit at your next garden party: The fish and chips at Georgia Shrimp Company. The restaurant has outposts in Fayetteville and Peachtree City and offers the best fest and chips Ive had in years. The meal is even served in paper cones for that proper British feeling. Pick up a few orders, pop your favorite beverage and play some old-school British rock, and youll swear youve been transported to the continent. If your tastes are a tad more Southern, stop by DuRoc in Fayetteville. For my money, they have the best barbecue and Brunswick stew in the county. Make sure to grab a gallon of sweet tea, and youll have all the fixings for an old-fashioned picnic. Pop an Elvis CD in your home stereo, and youll be set. Perhaps youre in the mood for Italian. A nice fresh salad and a antipasto plater? My choice is Valentinos in Peachtree City. The restaurant has been a staple for years, yet still turns out some of the best food in the county. Order a meat and cheese platter, put Sinatra on the stero and dream of old Napoli. During these glorious spring days, theres nothing more fun than an outdoor Sunday brunch. If you want to impress your friends, drop by City Café and Bakery in Fayetteville and pick up a selection of their wonderful pastries. Offer your guests fresh-brewed coffee, along with other beverages and maybe some chamber music, and youre on the way to a delightful Sunday with friends. Those are just some of the choices that abound in food-rich Fayette. Enjoy the great weather! | |
