Bad Links? | Palmetto drug bust nets cash and crackBy BEN NELMS An April 6 drug bust by Tri-Cities Narcotics Task Force, Palmetto Police and Palmettos Tri-Cities agent netted suspected powered and crack cocaine and suspected marijuana, three firearms and resulted in the arrest of three Palmetto men. Adrian Dyer, 25, was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to Tri-Cities Capt. J. H. Midkiff. Also charged was 21 year-old Bradford Dyer for carrying a concealed weapon and 24 year-old Quentin Rhames for disorderly conduct, Midkiff said. Seized during the arrests were 18.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 13.2 grams of suspected powered cocaine, 13.1 grams of suspected marijuana, all with an estimated street value of $12,000. Also seized was an AK-47 assault rifle, a .40 caliber Ruger P94 handgun, a Cobra .380 handgun and $1,326 in cash. The drug raid and arrests came after two recent purchases of suspected crack cocaine were made at the residence. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the three men standing outside talking, in proximity to two vehicles parked in front of the residence. Upon physically checking the men, officers found Bradford Dyer in possession of a Cobra .380 caliber handgun and Adrian Dyer in possession of 4.3 grams of suspected marijuana and $1,326 in cash, Midkiff said. Officers also secured the residence, finding no one inside. A search of the vehicles revealed numerous plastic bags containing the suspected powered cocaine, crack and marijuana, according to Midkiff. Also discovered were the Ruger P94 handgun, three magazines fully loaded with ammunition and a set of digital scales. Inside the residence, officers found the AK-47 assault rifle and an ammunitions can containing miscellaneous rounds of ammo, he said. Adrian Dyer told officers the vehicles and drugs belonged to him, Midkiff added. Adrian and Quentin Dyer were transported to College Park jail. This was one of several cases that were involved with in this area, said Midkiff. We are continuing to work throughout our jurisdiction to curb street drug sales. Commenting on the drug bust, Palmetto Police Chief Bobby Fronebarger used a passage from The Bible to get his message across. For those who are adamant about selling drugs in our city, they should consider II Samuel 1:7. And when he looked behind me, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, here am I. If you need to do the dope, you better be looking behind you. Earlier on April 6 Tri-Cities agents and Fairburn made a drug-related arrest at a Malone Street residence. Twenty-one year old Darlise Cox, also using the name Darlise Newsham, was charged with possession of an undetermined quantity of suspected crystallized methamphetamine, sometimes referred to as ice, with intent to distribute, Midkiff said. The street value of the drug was estimated at $1,000, he said. Another subject was arrested for possession of the same substance by Fairburn Police at the same address during the previous week, he said. |
