What do you think of this story? | DAR meets SaturdayThe next meeting of the General Daniel Newnan Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is Apr. 16. The chapter will be visiting Meadow Garden Museum in Augusta. Meadow Garden Museum is owned and operated by the Georgia State Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Meadow Garden opened as a museum in November of 1901. The most famous resident was George Walton. Walton served Georgia in many roles. He was elected six times as a Congressional Representative, twice as Governor, once as United States Senator, four times as Judge of the Superior Court and once as Chief Justice of the state. The General Daniel Newnan Chapter serves Meriwether, Coweta, and Fayette Counties. The NSDAR welcomes any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution.
