The USA Nationals attract the countrys finest wrestlers because it is the final tournament of the Dominator series and the first tournament of the coveted USA Triple Crown. This tournament is considered by many to be the World Series of youth wrestling. Competing in the Schoolboy division (12 and 13 year olds) were Tommy Bowers, Patrick Blankenbeker and Jacob Williamson. Kevin OBrien, Rob Mills and Jack Roberts competed in the Cadet division (14 and 15 year olds). Williamson finished third in the 125 pound weight class losing only one match in the entire tournament. He beat competitors from Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Florida and Indiana among others. His lone loss came in the sem-finals to a wrestler from Wisconsin. Blankenbeker captured fifth place in the 185 pound weight class, defeating wrestlers from Arizona, Alaska, Kansas and Minnesota among others. He lost in the semi-finals to the eventual national champion. |
